The distillation of wine marc from Burgundy is a tradition dating from the 17th century. Nowadays, they’re produced in the whole area of Burgundy with many different grape varieties and wine-making processes.
The Vieux Marc de Bourgogne Trénel is aged between three to six years in nearly half a century old oak vats, giving it its beautiful amber color.
The distillated marc are a blend of Gamay Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Half of it originates from the Beaujolais, where the grapes are traditionally vinificated in whole bunches and brings structure to the brandy. The other half comes from the Côte Châlonnaise, where the grapes are destemmed and bring fruity aromas to the Vieux Marc.
Tasting :
The Vieux Marc de Bourgogne Trénel is a beautiful bright amber in color. It mingles fruity and acidulous aromas of red currant, raspberry and strawberry with vanilla, smoky and toffee notes coming from the maturing in vats.
In the mouth, it is pleasant with a light tannin structure.
