Ratings "Croix De Bois 2009 Red"
R. Parker - Wine Advocate - 95/100
"There are 535 cases of the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Croix de Bois 100% Grenache from 110-year-old vines planted on the famed small rocks called Galets Roules. It is a classic Chateauneuf with lots of roasted herb, licorice, cedar, resiny pine forest, kirsch liqueur and black raspberry characteristics. It possesses a deep plum/garnet color as well as full body, 15+% natural alcohol and 15 years of drinkability."
Vinous - 93/100
"Vivid ruby. Compelling aromas of raspberry preserves, potpourri and blood orange, with a spicy overtone. Juicy and precise, offering palate-staining, deeply concentrated red fruit flavors that expand and gain spiciness with air. Finishes seamless and sweet, with intense lingering florality. Offers an impressive combination of depth and vivacity."
Jancis Robinson - 16,5/20
""Looks quite muddy. Sweet start with a salty finish. Not the freshest fruit, but the tannins are well handled and it seems quite evolved already. Not over-ambitious but should provide easy, pleasant drinking in the short to medium term"
In the Rhone Valley, or through the most beautiful regions of France and the world, the Maison M. CHAPOUTIER lets the terroir express itself.
unctuous, ample with warm tannins. According to the vintage, the wine can be kept from 30 to 60 years, indeed from 50 to 75 years.
Selective hand picking at maturity.
The soil, typical of the appellation Châteauneuf-du-Pape, is composed of big quartzite shingles and sandy red clay.
Vinifications are made in concrete tanks. Grapes are destemmed and the vatting lasts around 3 weeks, in order to polymerize the tannins. Only the free-run juice is used to make this wine.
