Ratings "Les Granits 2006 Red"
R. Parker - Wine Advocate - 96/100
"The wine of the lineup the 2010 may surpass it in a few years, the 2006 Saint Joseph Les Granits is a blockbuster. Coming from a dry, hot vintage and a very strong vintage in general for this estate, it has awesome depth and concentration to go with classic Northern Rhone meatiness, minerality, dried spices and dark fruit on the nose. Filling the mouth with fruit, it’s perfectly balanced, has sweet tannin and a finish that won’t quit. Given this showing, I wouldn’t hesitate to start cracking bottles, but it has at least another decade of prime drinking."
Vinous - 89+/100
"Bright red. Mineral-driven red berry and cherry aromas slowly unfold, picking up floral and Indian spice character. Youthfully clenched cherry and berry skin flavors turn sweeter with air, betraying no rough edges. Seems closed today but I don't detect much tannin. Finishes with good peppery cut and length."
La Revue du Vin de France - 16,5/20

black fruit jam, smoked and mineral overtones.
smoky and peppered aromas. Tight tannins with a long persistency in mouth. According to the vintage, the wine can be kept from 30 to 60 years, indeed from 50 to 75 years.
Sommelier's advice: Fish in tapenade sauce Small game, lamb Cooked pork meats Soft cheeses, goat's cheese
Syrah. Selection of our oldest Syrah trunks in the birthplace of the Saint Joseph appellation.
The grapes are hand-harvested at a very good maturity.
Very poor and very stony granitic soils.
The grapes are 100% destemmed. Slow fermentation in small concrete vats. The process of fermentation is very long and lasts for more than one month, to polymerize tannins. Only the free-run wine is used in this single vineyard.
Entirely aged in casks (new casks and casks having matured wine once or twice before) from 16 to 18 months.
