Ratings "Barbe Rac 1999 Red"
R. Parker - Wine Advocate - 92/100
"The 1999 Chateauneuf du Pape Barbe-Rac is a beautiful, medium dark ruby-colored effort with a gorgeously sweet nose of kirsch liqueur, Provencal herbs, licorice, earth, and spice. Cropped at an amazingly low 15 hectoliters per hectare, it possesses full body, super concentration, and a long finish. Anticipated maturity: now-2016."
Vinous - 87+/100
"Medium cherry-red color. Aroma of maraschino cherry. Seems a bit high-toned, like the Croix de Bois, but here I don't find a lot of flesh or sweetness. Has a restrained, cedary character and modest inner-mouth aromatics. Finishes with slightly drying tannins. Not a great showing."
