Sicamor white, the revelation of new Terroirs

Maison M. CHAPOUTIER invites you to discover its new white Crozes-Hermitage: Sicamor. This Crozes-Hermitage embodies the ultimate expression of the unique Terroirs of the Northern Rhône Valley.

Sicamor white celebrates the great white Terroirs of the appellation. Although this region is mainly known for its red wines, with only 8% of the surface area devoted to white wines, the Sicamor plots benefit from a unique natural freshness thanks to their early morning exposure and deep granite soils. This harmonious blend of conditions produces a white wine of remarkable elegance and complexity, demonstrating that the appellation has much more to offer than its famous red wines.

Sicamor white M. CHAPOUTIER is the fruit of meticulous winemaking, highlighting the distinctive Terroirs of Crozes-Hermitage appellation. The grapes come from two carefully selected plots: one located on granite slops to the north, offering tension and freshness, and the other on the alluvial terraces of the Rhône, providing roundness and complexity.

The wine's name "Sicamor" refers to a piece of armorial bearings found on coasts of arms in the shape of a hoop, a barrel circle with a strongly accentuated link, recalling the parcels that encircle Hermitage.

Meticulous expertise:

Made from 100% Marsanne, the emblematic grape variety of the Rhône Valley, Sicamor comes from old vines that are on average 48 years old. The grapes are harvested by hand at optimum ripeness. fermentation is temperature-controlled in demi-muids at 17°C, followed by 10 months in 600-litre demi-muids, then 2 months in vats. This method preserves the wine's caracteristic finesse and freshness.

Sicamor boasts a golden yellow colour with green highlights, a powerful, complex nose with notes of yellow-fleshed fruit, and a voluminous palate dominated by minerality, with a finish marked by a fine tension. The Marsanne bitters add roundness and freshness, making for an unforgettable tasting experience.

Sicamor white: food and wine pairings

Sicamor white offers many different food and wine pairings. Its volume and minerality are perfect with grilled cod served with a cream of pea soup and smoked bacon emulsion, or with scallop carpaccio with lime. For meat lovers, we recommend a tournedos Rossini with roast potatoes. Let yourself be seduced by Sicamor white, which reveals all the richness and elegance of the Crozes-Hermitage Terroirs.

Sicamor red, a timeless Crozes-Hermitage:

Sicamor red captures the essence of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation. Made from Syrah, this wine is a symphony of aromas and complexity. The nose reveals notes of concentrated spices (black pepper, cloves, black fruit jelly) followed by hints of blackberry and graphite. On the palate, the attack is full and fleshy. The tannins are velvety. The black fruits continue on the finish, accompanied by other notes such as cedar, reduced juice and tapenade. A superb wine.

The velvety tannins and red fruit notes of this red wine will go perfectly with the delicacy and refinement of a roast filet of duck with baby vegetables and spicy jus. It will aslo go well with dishes in sauce, such as a beef cheek with a carrot, parmesan and onion confit flan.
