"The full-bodied 2015 Cornas les Arênes verges on surmaturité, its cassis flavors fitting with melted chocolate notes. But those are framed by solid notes of crushed stone, pastry crust and roasted meat, which restore a sense of place and identity to this ripe, creamy wine. It should drink well for more than a decade. 2020-2030"

"Bright violet. Mineral-laced cherry and dark berry scents are complemented by cracked pepper and smoky bacon flourishes. Sweet, broad and concentrated in the mouth, offering energetic blackberry, cassis and bitter chocolate flavors and an enlivening jolt of peppery spices. Shows very good focus and spicy lift on the finish, which features chewy tannins and repeating smokiness."

The grapes are entirely hand-harvested.
Part of the vineyard is located on decomposing granite, known locally as “gore”, the other is on alluvial clay-limestone soil. This kind of soil produces powerful, meaty wines with good tannin. This type of granite also gives the wine power and a nice taut acidity.
Vinification is carried out in the traditional way, the harvest is destemmed. Fermentation lasts about 10 days and is followed by an around three-week maceration.
After vinification, the ageing process starts and lasts 14-16 months. 80% of the wine goes into oak barrels (100% French). The remaining 20% are aged in concrete tanks, which preserves the fruit and minerality expressed on these granitic soils.
