Which wine to pair with your raclettes, cheese fondues and tartiflettes in winter?

With the return of autumn, raclette, cheese fondue and tartiflette season is officially underway. To accompany these convivial and generous recipes, we recommend some food and wine pairing ideas to enhance these moments shared with family and friends.

Which wines to pair with raclette?

A winter staple, raclette is a Savoyard dish. This delicious dish is made up of melted raclette cheese, potatoes, cold meats and pickles. These flavours go wonderfully well with fresh and tangy wines.

For the first pairing, we are taking you to the Rhône Valley with our "Les Abelhas" wine. Ample and generous on the palate, this white Côtes-du-Rhône reveals pineapple aromas with a few spicy touches that will bring out all the flavours of the raclette.

Marius white IGP Pays d'Oc, a wine with fruity notes and with an amazing freshness. On the palate, it is full-bodied and fruity, with aromas of ripe fruit accompanied by a nice acidity that enhances the velvety texture of the potatoes.

We usually pair cheese dishes with white wine, but a carefully selected red wine can also enhance your recipe. The Côtes du Roussillon Villages de Bila-Haut, from the Terroirs du Roussillon, is a perfect pairing for a raclette. Its black cherry aromas, silky tannins and fine structure will bring out the flavours of the charcuterie and the melt-in-the-mouth texture of the potatoes.

What wines should you drink with a Savoyard fondue?

Fondue Savoyarde is an emblematic Savoyard dish made with mature Comté cheese, summer Beaufort and Gruyère cheese, topped with a few pints of white wine. To accompany this creamy, comforting recipe, you can serve raw vegetables, slices of bread or cooked potatoes.

To go with this traditional dish, we recommend fresh white wines with a good acidity to balance the richness of the cheese.

Joseph Viola & Michel Chapoutier's Côtes-du-Rhône Villages Laudun is an excellent pairing. Made from Grenache blanc, Roussanne and Viognier, this white wine reveals lovely floral aromas accompanied by a fresh and opulent entry. The wine's minerality and notes of white-fleshed fruit bring out all the flavours for an ideal match.

For a perfect pairing, we suggest our AOP Côtes du Roussillon white wine from Domaine de Bila-Haut. This wine, with its citrus and floral aromas, has a lovely acidity and a touch of minerality that will enhance your cheese fondue and its accompaniments.

Which wines go with tartiflette?

Another essential winter recipe: tartiflette. Easy to prepare, this convivial dish brings together young and old for unforgettable moments.

To bring out the best in this recipe of potatoes, Reblochon cheese, bacon and crème fraiche, try our Rhône Valley wines from the Crozes-Hermitage, Luberon and Côtes-du-Rhône appellations.

Petite-Ruche, a Crozes-Hermitage emblematic of the Maison M. CHAPOUTIER. The Marsanne grape reveals freshness with floral and candied fruit aromas. The wine's suppleness is a perfect match for the melt-in-the-mouth notes of the potatoes and the flavours of the Reblochon cheese.

Discover La Ciboise white, a rich, harmonious wine with a zingy, salty finish. This white wine reveals aromas of white flowers, peach and exotic fruit, ideal for pairing with a tartiflette.

For red wine lovers, we recommend Joseph Viola & Michel Chapoutier's Côtes-du-Rhône Villages. Made from Grenache and Syrah, this wine is beautifully fresh on the palate, with lovely red fruit flavours that enhance the smoky notes of the Reblochon cheese and bacon. On the finish, the chiselled tannins give way to an aromatic freshness that will delight your Taste buds.
