Tasting notes
Appearance:
great ruby-red colour which is very deep and intense.
Nose:
aromas of liquorice and black ripe fruits. A delicate overtone of spices gives complexity and nobility to the nose.
Palate:
the attack is fat and generous. The tannic structure is powerful and mellow. Ageing period: from 2 to 5 years.
Sommelier's advice: 2 to 5 years.
Grape variety/varieties:
100% Syrah.
Harvest:
The grapes are picked by hand at their optimum phenolic maturity.
Soil:
The vineyard is situated on the Southern slopes on the district of Chasse sur Rhône which are composed of schists. Schists have a foliated, smooth and brilliant aspect. They are made up of micas (which give them their dark colour) and also quartz crystals.
Vinification:
The grapes are hand-harvested at optimal phenolic maturity. Thanks to a vinification performed in a concrete tank presenting a maximal thermal inertia, Lucidus is a powerful and delicate wine.
Ageing:
The wine is aged in Burgundian barrels (with 20% of new ones). It is bottled from 15 to 18 months after harvesting.
