Which red wines to choose to accompany red meats at Christmas

The end-of-year celebrations are fast approaching. Gourmet, festive and convivial, end-of-year meals are best shared with those you love. This year, red meat are inviting itself to your table with delicious recipes. To enhance them, we suggest some pairings for a unique tasting experience.

Which red wines go with beef?

Tournedos rossini with morel mushroom sauce, beef Wellington or fillet of beef en croute, discover our selection of red wines.

To accompany these recipes, we suggest Facélie AOP Châteauneuf-du-Pape biodynamic. This red wine reveals complex aromas of red fruit, spices and leather. Aged in demi-muids and vats, it is full-bodied and powerful, perfect for accompanying red meats.

As a second pairing, we take you to Australia with Lieu-dit Malakoff of Terlato and Chapoutier. The Syrah's complex, intense aromas of wild berries and persistent, juicy tannins are the perfect match for your red meats.

Which red wines go well with duck breast?

Tasty and tender, duck breast is a popular choice for festive meals. A red wine with powerful tannins will go wonderfully well with this deliciously flavoursome meat.

For the first pairing, we recommend our red wine Les Arènes AOP Cornas. This wine has dense, tight tannins that are a perfect match for duck breast. Its aromas of very ripe fruit such as blackcurrant and raspberry jam will sublimate your recipe.

For a perfect match, our Sélection Parcellaire La Mordorée AOP Côte-Rôtie will bring out all the flavours and aromas in your recipe. Made from Syrah grapes, this Sélection Parcellaire reveals aromas of raspberry with hints of violet and a dominant hint of spice. The wine's elegance, balance and structure will enhance your duck breast and its accompaniment.

For the final pairing, we take you to Domaine de Bila-Haut in the Roussillon region with our Occultum Lapidem AOP Côtes-du-Roussillon Villages Latour de France red wine. The flavours of duck breast combine perfectly with the intense notes of pepper, black fruit and garrigue. Rich, dense and sunny on the palate, the wine then reveals fine tannins accompanied by a lovely freshness for a perfect match.

Which red wines to serve with game?

Game is another essential Christmas meat. To accompany wild boar, deer or roe deer, we recommend a red wine with a nice tannic structure and fruity aromas.

For lovers of Côtes-du-Rhône, Couronne de Chabot red of Yannick Alléno & Michel Chapoutier is a wine pairing that works 100%. Its power and dense, tight tannins are a perfect match for the strength of game meat. What's more, its aromas of cocoa and very ripe black fruit such as blackcurrant or blackberry will bring out all the flavours in your recipe.

Domaine de Bila-Haut's Sélection Parcellaire Chrysopée red is a perfect match for the strength of the game and the density of the meat. The terroir of this parcel favours the production of a fleshy red wine with spicy aromas. Made from Grenache Noir and Mourvèdre, this Sélection Parcellaire reveals a fresh, racy palate with silky tannins and hints of spice. Its saline finish with a hint of iodine will go well with a roast loin of wild boar and its vegetables.

For the final pairing, we stay with Domaine de Bila-Haut with L'Esquerda AOP Côtes-du-Roussillon Villages Lesquerde. A red wine with hints of black fruit, powerful, tight tannins and a fresh finish, it's the perfect accompaniment to a rib-eye steak with shallot confit or a roast wild boar leg.

Happy end-of-year celebrations!
