Dégustation
Oeil :
Coppery colour with hints of amber.
Nez :
Its delicate nose, with hints of vanilla and toffee, opens up to notes of candied fruit, sweet spice and light tobacco.
Bouche :
On the palate, the attack is fresh and elegant. In the middle, the tonic texture combines with saline and slightly peaty nuances. The woody nuances open up in the finish with hints of curry and walnut.
Vinification :
Despite opening under the gloomy auspices of a spring frost, the 1998 vintage turned out to be excellent in the Rhône Valley, thanks to its long, hot summer. Although the northern crus showed off their best profiles, it was the Châteauneuf-du-Pape that left their mark on the vintage with an anthology level.
This fine Eau-de-vie is produced by distilling part of our 1998 vintage wines in our traditional all-copper column still.
It was then aged in French oak barrels (228 litres) for 20 years. It then took on a coppery colour with hints of amber.
