"I considered rating Chapoutier's 2012 Condrieu Coteaux du Chery even higher, and it certainly stands toe-to-toe with Vernay's, Guigal's and Perret's top cuvees. Perfumed, floral and classic, with lots of apricot, tangerine, orange blossom and floral qualities, this beauty has full-bodied richness and texture, yet stays pure, elegant and seamless. It's a heavenly Condrieu to drink over the coming 3-4 years."

"(no new oak and no malo): Green-tinged yellow. A powerful, exotically perfumed bouquet evokes fresh pit and citrus fruits, violet, candied ginger and dusty minerals. Is this Viognier or what? Palate-staining nectarine and orange pith flavors are sharpened by chalky mineral and white pepper qualities. Rich and broad yet dry, showing superb clarity and thrust on the long, floral finish. This is a one-hectare plot at the southern end of the appellation, near Limony."

"Michel Chapoutier feels himself very lucky to be able to buy this prized land from an old school friend. Patchwork of schist and granite here. This site is granite. Energetic nose with just a hint of fermentation aromas. Very floral and entertaining. Lacks the savoury intensity of some but it's very pretty - floral rather than apricot mode. "
