A sleeper of the vintage, the 2010 Vin
de Pays Domaine des Granges de
Mirabel Blanc is 100% Viognier from
basalt soils that are farmed
biodynamically. It exhibits wonderful
notes of wet rocks/minerals, a steely
background of acidity and loads of
honeysuckle, lychee nut and white
peach characteristics. This beauty is
best consumed over the next year.

An inexpensive white that is well worth checking out is the 2011 Viognier Domaine des Granges de Mirabel IGP Ardeche. This pure Viognier exhibits lots of peach and honeysuckle in a fruit-forward and exuberant style. This dry white is best drunk over the next several years.

89/100. Readers looking for a more exotic white wine should check out the 2007 Vin de Pays Les Granges de Mirabel. An outstanding example of 100% Viognier, it reveals laser-like focus, medium body and, plenty of honeyed tropical fruit and peach notes offered in a zesty, fresh, unoaked style.
