Attempting very successfully to resurrect the image of a once-forgotten appellation, Michel Chapoutier and the Pic family of restauranteurs have made a fabulous but tiny cuvee of 2006 St.-Peray Gamme Pic et Chapoutier. This wine could easily pass for a grand cru Chablis. Pure minerals, stones, white citrus, and flowers, it is dry, crisp, and screams terroir. I have no idea how these wines will age, but who can resist them now?

The 2004 Gamme Pic and Chapoutier St.-Peray (100% Marsanne) is one of the finest dry white St.-Perays I have ever tasted. Notes of crushed rocks, white currants, flowers, and citrus are accompanied by a wine with superb purity and density, a hint of orange marmalade, and a beautiful, broad texture. It should drink well for 3-4 years

Made in a decidedly grand cru Chablis-like style, this 100% Marsanne boasts brilliant clarity, focus, and freshness in spite of its substantial concentration and length. This stunning 2007 white can be enjoyed over the next several years.
This joint project of the brilliant restaurateur family in Valence, the Pic family, and Michel Chapoutier has resulted in one of the two or three finest wines ever made in St.-Peray.
Dégustation
Robe : jaune paille, caractéristique d'une bonne maturité de la vendange, limpide et brillante.
Nez : nez intense de fruits à chair blanche (pêche), et d'abricots.
Bouche : beaucoup de gras, des notes de pêche blanche, une belle minéralité, une pointe d'amande amère qui allonge la bouche en finale.
