L'Hermitage Rouge Monier de la Sizerrane 2010 est un assemblage du bas des Bessards, du Méal et de Greffieux. Il devrait rivaliser avec le 2005 pour le meilleur millésime que j'ai gouté ici. Sombre, tendre, avec un côté goudron, expresso, pâte de mûre, ce vin aux notes de graphite délivre une belle finale pleine d'élan.

Pure, complex, and with plenty of ripe tannin that reins in the finish and adds ample focus, it can be consumed anytime over the coming 15+ years.

Solidement structuré, il présente une forte acidité et des tanins substanciels qui tapissent la langue. La finale, très ferme, dévoile des notes de violette et de poivre.

Sizeranne is one of Chapoutier's great terroir-driven wines. The 1994 is a Hermitage built for the long term, though it already shows the unbridled beauty of Syrah grown in this vineyard. The fruit aroma soars from the glass, then settles into an earthier mode as it weaves and entwines with the tannins. There's not merely balance, but a complex interaction of fruit, tannin and acidity that extends the dark flavors. Sizeranne is a gracious wine that will reward patient cellaring.

Discret en finale, il n'a pas dit ses derniers mots puisqu'il devrait être plus bavard dans cinq ans. Dégusté à Bordeaux au printemps 1996 et à Montréal à l'automne 1997, je constate qu'il a peu évolué et qu'il est destiné à tenir un bon moment.

A force de sélection et à l'aide d'une vinification soignée, Michel Chapoutier a produit un Hermitage fort honorable ayant beaucoup de fruit, un caractère fumé bien à lui et un bel équilibre en bouche. Un vin d'ampleur moyenne, vif, certe moins corpulent et spectaculaire qu'un 1990 ou un 1989, mais néanmoins fort satisfaisant. Evolution rapide à prévoir. On le boit dès maintenant avec grand plaisir.

Colour : deep garnet red, with purplish lights.
Nose : red fruit (rapberry, blackcurrant), with a hint of liquorice.
Mouth : good attack, round and elegant wine with concentrated and gentle tannins.
The final is on blackcurrant, raspberry and spicy (pepper) aromas when it is young.
