The 2010 Crozes-Hermitage La Petite
Ruche red is slightly richer than the
Deschants, offering a denser
by/purple color along with notes of
forest floor, tree bark, damp earth,
black currants, herbs and olives.
Medium-bodied and loaded with fruit
with ripe tannins as well as a
heady finish, it should drink well for 2-
3 years.
Wine Advocate # 170 Avril 2007
86. As for the 2005 Crozes-Hermitage La Petite Ruche, it has the tart acidity so prevalent in 2005, good dark ruby color, aromatics of sweet and sour cherries, earth, licorice, and spice. It is pure, has excellent texture, and has a mid-weight, elegant style best consumed over the next 4-5 years.
Wine Spectator - Mai 2011
Robert Parker : 88-91
Another s trong effort, the 2009 Crozes-Hermitage La Petite Ruche is filled with blackberry, truffle, charcoal, graphite and subtle smoke characteristics. Full-bodied, dense and rich with remarkable intensity, this is the finest La Petite Ruche Chapoutier has yet made.
Steve TANZER (International Wine Cellar / USA) Février / Mars 2000
Robe lumineuse rouge intense. 86-89 ?
Steve TANZER (International Wine Cellar / USA) Février / Mars 2000
Bright full red. Vibrant aromas of black cherry, smoke, mocha, game and iodine. Then intensely flavored but tougher and leaner than the nose suggests. Very tightly wrapped today and hard to assess. 86-89?.
Clives COATES (THE VINE / UK) July 2000
Attractive, forward, but a little simple. Medium body. A bit short. Ready now.
Leslie Sbrocco (WineToday.com / USA) February 1999
Another wine made from syrah that tastes of smoke, plum, pepper, earth and peat. Oh, this is a Rhone !
Robert M. PARKER Jr (THE WINE ADVOCATE / USA) February 1999
Chapoutier did well with the 1997 Crozes-Hermitage " La Petite Ruche " ; a peppery / cassis tank fermented and aged, seductive, medium-bodied, fruity wine. There is no evidence of wood, and the wine is better because of it.
(WINE ENTHOUSIAST / USA) Juillet 2000
This broodingly dark Syrah features licorice, dark-skinned fruit and toasty-vanilla. Citrusy acidity keeps it somewhat crisp and lean. Could age well for 4-6 years. 88
(WINE SPECTATOR / USA) Novembre 1998
Chewy, with decent red berry flavor, but shy on ripeness. Of light to medium body, crisp on the short finish.
Robert M. PARKER Jr (THE WINE ADVOCATE / USA) October 1997
This wine is aged completely in cuve and already bottled. Displays a deep ruby / purple color, followed by a gorgeous nose of blackberry / cassis fruit, not much complexity, but fine acidity, and gobs of ripe fruit in a medium-bodied format. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.
(AMBIANCE / Belgique) Octobre 1997
Robert M. PARKER Jr (THE WINE ADVOCATE / USA) October 1996
Offers straightforward licorice and cassis fruit, medium body, fine ripeness, and enough concentration to suggest it will continue to drink well for 4-5 years.
Clive COATES (THE VINE / England) September 1996
All in cuve, no wood. Clean. Good ripe Syrah. This shows well. Not a bit rustic. Good grip. Long and positive at the end. 1998-2003.
Roland GOHY (SUMMUM / Belgique) Septembre-Octobre 1995
